UN peacekeepers attacked in South Sudan’s Leer area

June 4, 2018 (JUBA) - A convoy of international peacekeepers patrolling in the Unity region came under direct attack when they were inspecting the security situation in Leer area, said the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) on Monday.
In a statement released after the incident, the UNMISS said the attack took place in Rubkway, about 20 km north of Leer town when the convoy, which was heading to Thaker in Mayendit County, stopped briefly to interact with a civilian.

Civilians increasingly leaving Bentiu protection site: IOM South Sudan

March 3, 2018 (JUBA) - The United Nations Migration agency, IOM, recorded in a recent report about the movement of population that civilians who leave the Protection of Civilians (PoC) site in Bentiu are more important than those who arrive to the United Nations camp.

South Sudan’s Latjor governor appoints three advisers

December 23, 2017 (JUBA) - South Sudan's Latjor State Governor has gubernatorial order appointing three advisers, head of revenue authority, town mayor and deputy and a county commissioner
Governor Peter Gatkuoth Khor made the appointment following months of consultations and negotiations with his Deputy Elijah Liech Bany over how the two parties could complete formation of the State executive organs.

South Sudan’s Sobat youth deplore governor’s “hate speech”

October 3, 2017 (ADDIS ABABA) - Sobat State Youth Union on Tuesday said they are strongly angered by what they termed as ''hate speech' ushered by The state Governor, Gen.Chuol Lam Pouch, during his visit to Wechdeng of Malou County.
In a statement extended to Sudan Tribune, the Union said that Chuol, along with some few members of the state cabinet, had a surprised tour to the eastern part of Nasir where he held a rally with the local community there.
