(SUDAN) – Gambia Medical Students team defeated South Sudan 3-1 in the quarterfinal played at the Markez football field on Tuesday, to reach the semifinal of the 2019 African Medical Students Association (AMSA) tournament organised by the International University of Africa.

Isaq Ceesay’s hat-trick was enough to earn Gambian students a place in the last four of the championship.   Gambia will now play against Malawi in the semi-final at the Markez football field on Friday.

In a telephone interview with The Points Ports from Sudan, Ebrima Colley, head coach of The Gambia student union team (GAMSUS) said he was happy with the performance of his team and thanked fans for cheering up the team during the match.

Colley appealed to the ministry of youth and sports to support them with jerseys. He said the GAMSUS team is representing The Gambia, noting that they have lot of talents in their team.
