CECAFA U20 Challenge Cup 2019 – South Sudan to face Somalia, Burundi

(KAMPALA) – The CECAFA U20 Challenge Cup 2019 will start on September 21st and end on October 5th at two venues in Uganda.

Peace War Memorial Stadium (Gulu city, Northern Uganda) and FUFA Technical Center (Njeru) have been chosen as the venues.

The developments were confirmed on Saturday, September 14th, during a press conference held at Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala, Uganda’s capital.

At the same press conference, it was announced that CAF and FIFA are the main sponsors of the championship.

Group A of the championship will have Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Zanzibar.

In Group B, Burundi, South Sudan and Somalia will do battle.

Both group A and B will have their matches played at the FUFA Technical Center in Njeru.

The opening day of the championships will have two games both from Group A.

The first that will be played at 2pm between Sudan and Djibouti with Uganda vs Ethiopia coming at 4pm. Both games will be at the Peace War Memorial Stadium in Gulu.


A: Uganda (Hosts), Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti

B: Kenya, Ethiopia, Zanzibar, Tanzania

C: Burundi, South Sudan, Somalia
