For smoother skin
Shaving is one way to get rid of the hair on your body. But it’s not as effective as waxing.
While you can always visit your favorite salon for waxing, sometimes it can be expensive and time consuming. But that should be no excuse for not waxing because you can make your own wax at home. And, it’s easy and cheap because you are just using ingredients that you already have in your kitchen.
Let’s see how to go about it, shall we?
150ml of fresh lemon juice
Put the sugar in a pan and heat it with medium heat until it starts melting. Once the sugar starts to caramelize, add the lemon juice and honey.
Keep on stirring the mixture because sugar burns easily until you get an even syrup.
If the mixture is too thick, add some water a spoonful at a time until you get the right thickness.
Once the mixture has turned golden brown, it should be ready.
Now remove it from heat and keep it under room temperature to cool down for at least two hours.
Before waxing, rub baby powder on the area you want to wax. This helps in absorbing skin oils and ensuring that the wax sticks on the hair and not on your skin. This way, the process will also be less painful.
Using a wooden spatula, apply the wax on the desired area in the direction of hair growth.
Take a clean piece of cloth and use it to press hard on the wax until it sticks on the skin. Then pull of the cloth in a quick motion. If you do it correctly, you will see some hair stuck to the cloth.
Now repeat this procedure using other clean fabrics until you have waxed all the desired areas.
If you still have some wax remaining, store it in an airtight container and refrigerate it for future use.
