The Government of Kenya has officially allowed visa free entry to the East African country to South Sudanese nationals.
The announcement was made by Kim Gai Ruot, a member of East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) who said Kenya has waived visa fees for South Sudanese through the Immigration Department during an event organized by the Makerere University South Sudanese Students Association (MUSSSA) to welcome newly admitted students for 2019-2020 academic year.
“To make this move a reality, the EALA was working on free market integration where all citizens within the EAC would be free to seek for jobs within the regional bloc,” he said.
He called on the students to always live in peace with one another.
The president of MUSSSA Garang Daniel appealed to students to promote peace and unity among the communities by peaceful with one another. He appealed to those still in lower level of education to join Makerere University after the completion of their secondary school.
The event was attended by students’ leaders from other universities and members of Makerere University Alumni.
