President Kiir Vows To Form Transitional Gov’t Of National Unity

President Salva Kiir Mayardit said he is going to form the Transitional Government of National Unity that will include all political parties in May.

He made his remarks on Tuesday while addressing a public rally in Wau town. He called on the members of the ruling SPLM party to unite rather than confuse themselves through political wrangles.

“In the coming month of May”, said the President, “if things are going on well, I will form a government of National Unity with all the political parties. That government will stay in power for three years, after which the people will go for general elections.”

Kiir added that, “If you are SPLM, you will be expected to be loyal; if you are not we will tell you to go your own way. Those who will remain will be those committed and loyal to the party.

“I will not talk about the issues of elections because this is not a campaign for elections. The reason I have come to explain the way of peace to you this time is that I know the roads out of Juba to Bahr el Ghazal are bad and flooded in rainy season. I have seen how bad they are with my own eyes and I need no minister of Road and Transport to tell me.”
