The Logistics Cluster facilitates the coordination of the logistics response in support of the humanitarian community. Furthermore, it provides information management products to support effective decision making of humanitarian organisations in South Sudan. Where logistics gaps are identified, WFP, as the lead agency of the Logistics Cluster, acts as a Provider of Last Resort by offering common logistics services to support the humanitarian community in their response operations.
In March, the Logistics Cluster facilitated the transport of 475 mt of humanitarian cargo by air and road to 29 destinationson behalf of 30 organisations.
Duringthe month, the Logistics Cluster coordinated 7 inter-agency convoys for 13 organisations transporting humanitarian supplies along the Western Corridor and throughout Jonglei State, reaching Pibor for the second time this year.
The Logistics Cluster transported 97 mt of relief items to seven locations for 13 organisations via its Beyond Bentiu and Beyond Wau responses through IOM Common Transport Service trucks. The Beyond responses help the Logistics Cluster reduce reliance on costly air operations.
