South Sudan NEWS PORTAL (JUBA CITY)
Students in Sudan have sat for their Basic School Certificate Examination. The Ministries of Education and Health in the state of Khartoum agreed in June to take adequate precautions to protect students from the Coronavirous epidemic, as social distancing was implemented and exam centers were to be sterilized before and after the exams.
The decision to still hold the examination came after a meeting was held by the Governor of Khartoum, Dr. Youssef Adam Al-Dai, the Director General of Education in the state, Mohamed Ibrahim Ali, in the presence of the Secretary-General of the State of Khartoum, Professor, Tayeb Al-Sheikh and the officials of the Ministry of Education last month.
In contrast neighboring Kenya announced that they had canceled their academic calendar for 2020 and expect to resume in 2021. The government stated that students will redo their expected year in the next academic year including those slated to take national examinations.
