Tanzania stop South Sudan in 2019 Cecafa Senior Women’s Challenge Cup

South Sudan’s
national team got a rude welcome to the 2019 Cecafa Senior Women’s Challenge
Cup falling 9-0 to defending champions Tanzania on Saturday.

The hosts
took a 3-0 half time lead at the Chamanzi Stadium with Omary Mwanahamisi
netting a brace and Donisia Minja scoring the other.

South Sudan
who were making their first appearance in a women’s tournament tried to
restrict the hosts to few goals with tight defending.

But the

before Abdallah Stumai scored a brace, while Julitha Tamuwahi and Clement Opa
also got their names on the score sheet.

“It was a
very difficult game for us because it is the first time we are competing in a
women’s tournament. But this exposure is good for the women’s team,” said South
Sudan’s coach Moses Machar Akol.
